Woman’s kidnaping bid foiled, suspect arrested
LAHORE:A suspect who attempted to kidnap a woman in Nankana Sahib was arrested following a response by the Virtual Women Police Station.
The emergency call was received at the Virtual Women Police Station through the Emergency Helpline 15, where the caller reported that a man was attempting to abduct a woman at gunpoint. Upon receiving the call, the Virtual Women Police Station immediately dispatched police officers to the scene. The authorities acted, located the suspect, and arrested him.
Initial reports indicated that the accused had been blackmailing the woman for the past month and a half, but she remained silent out of fear for her honour. The suspect entered the woman's house and tried to abduct her at gunpoint. However, when the woman began shouting and screaming, the suspect threatened to kill her and fled the scene.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority confirmed that the police have registered a case against the accused and are pursuing legal action. Women in need of immediate assistance are urged to dial 15 and press ‘2’.
Man killed in firing incident
A man was killed and two others were injured in a firing incident in Gawalmandi. According to officials, the shooting left Khizar, Humayun, and a passerby wounded. They were rushed to the hospital for medical assistance. However, Humayun succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Upon receiving the information, police moved the deceased’s body for post-mortem and initiated legal proceedings. Raids are underway to arrest the suspects involved in the attack.
Injured robber arrested
Dolphin Force apprehended an armed suspect in an injured condition following a shootout in Begum Kot. According to a police spokesperson, the incident unfolded when Dolphin Team 16 thwarted a street-snatching attempt. The suspect, identified as Sajid, had allegedly robbed a citizen at gunpoint, stealing cash and a mobile phone before attempting to flee. During patrol duty, the Dolphin Force intercepted the suspect near Sheikhupura Road, close to Millat Tractors. Upon being cornered, the suspect opened fire on the police. Fortunately, the officers remained unharmed. In retaliatory fire, the suspect was shot in the leg and subdued.
Police recovered a pistol, six mobile phones, cash, bullets, and a magazine from his possession. He was shifted to a hospital under police supervision, and further investigations are underway.
