Court extends remand of couple named in killing of domestic worker
Rawalpindi:Civil Judge Judicial Magistrate Irfan Qureshi has extended the physical remand of the husband and wife named in the case of torturing and killing a 12-year-old domestic worker for another 4 days and handed them over to the custody of the Bani Police Station.
The court has directed the investigator of the case to complete the investigation from all aspects, including the murder weapon/torture, and present the accused again in court on February 21, while Additional Sessions Judge Rawalpindi Muhammad Tariq Ayub has issued a notice to the parties on the bail application of Rubina, the co-accused in the case and the second employee of the main accused, and has sought the record of the case today (Tuesday).
On completion of the 4-day physical remand, the Bani Police Station produced Rashid Shafiq, the owner of the house named in the case, and his wife Sana Rashid, in the court yesterday and requested for another 7-day physical remand. The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Zahid Iqbal, was of the view that although progress has been made in the investigation, the accused have not been given a weapon.
Further physical remand is required to bring the investigation to a logical conclusion with the recovery. After hearing the arguments of the lawyers of the parties, the court has once again handed over the couple to the police on a 4-day physical remand.
Meanwhile, the lawyer of the co-accused in the case, Rubina Naveed, has filed a post-arrest bail application. In the application filed through Advocate Chaudhry Hassan Ali, it has been taken the position that the petitioner has no connection with the case in which the petitioner has been nominated, nor is there any evidence against the petitioner. The complainant and the police have nominated him in the case in collusion, therefore, the petitioner's bail should be granted and his release ordered.
After the initial hearing, the court issued notice to the parties and today (Tuesday) has sought the record of the case. It should be remembered that the court had sent the petitioner to jail on judicial remand on February 13.
