Tourist killed, 20 hurt in vehicle plunge
MANSEHRA: One person was killed and 20 others, including 17 women, sustained critical injuries when a vehicle carrying tourists fell into a deep ravine in the Jaba area early Monday morning.
“Our team shifted all 21 injured to a health facility, where one of them succumbed to injuries,” District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Abrar Ali told reporters.The coach was returning to Wah in Hassan Abdal from Shogran when the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn.
As a result, the vehicle skidded off the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road and plunged into a deep ravine.Rescue 1122 personnel along with ambulances rushed to the scene and retrieved the injured from the gorge before shifting them to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.
Doctors pronounced one of the injured Khawaja Tahir, dead, while the remaining victims were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad.A Rescue 1122 official said that 17 women and five men sustained injuries. Five of the injured were stated to be in a precarious condition.
He added that darkness hampered the rescue operation carried out by emergency personnel in the mountainous terrain along the MNJ road.Meanwhile, a man and his three-year old daughter were shot dead in the Balian area of Oghi.
The children of Mohammad Amin and his neighbour Mohammad Naseer had quarrelled over a petty issue about two weeks ago.Enraged over the previous incident, Naseer allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on Amin and his daughter, Insha, critically injuring both.
Locals rushed them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Oghi, where doctors pronounced them dead.The Oghi police lodged a case and launched raids to arrest the suspect, who managed to flee after the shooting.
