ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah has hinted at the possibility of a misconduct reference being filed against two senior judges of the Supreme Court.
Speaking on a TV channel programme, he said, “I don’t know if any reference is being prepared or not, but there are certain issues on which a reference can be made.”
He elaborated, “In my opinion, with all due respect to the judges, their actions could be linked to judicial misconduct at some level.” He said that these judges frequently write letters on various matters, which somehow reach the media before official channels.
He, however, clarified that this issue had not been discussed in the cabinet.
He alleged that their actions were disrupting the smooth functioning of the Supreme Court. He said that Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has maintained complete neutrality in ongoing judicial matters.
He added that if the chief justice deems it necessary to appoint a new judge to the Islamabad High Court, then his discretion should not be challenged.
