Data-driven research and education challenges discussed
Islamabad: A meeting of the Research Advisory Group (RAG) was jointly organised by the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) and Data and Research in Education at PIE’s auditorium, bringing together academic leaders, practitioners, policymakers and government representatives to discuss how data-driven research can address key education challenges in Pakistan.
The event also welcomed the leadership of the What Works Hub, marking a significant step toward collaborative efforts in education research. PIE director general Dr Shahid Soroya shared the institute’s progress over the last year, ongoing research projects and future plans.
Saima Anwar from RC-DARE highlighted ongoing work and plans for joint research collaborations with PIE. Salim Salamah from FCDO commended the role of RAG and PIE in generating evidence to support informed decision-making.
Joint education adviser Navid Hassan Khan appreciated PIE’s recent contributions to education statistics, assessments, and the national education policy framework. Officials said the partnership aimed to generate evidence-backed insights to shape policies and improve learning outcomes across Pakistan.
They said while it was a work in progress, the discussions had laid a strong foundation for impactful research and meaningful change. The officials said they all were committed to transforming education through collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based solutions.
