Imposter arrested; fake caller booked

LAHORE:Ghalib Market Police on Friday arrested a man for impersonating an officer of an important government institution.

According to a police spokesperson, authorities received a false report about the kidnapping of a businessman in Ghalib Market. On reaching the scene, police found inconsistencies in the statements of the caller, identified as Javed. As a result, he was taken to the police station for questioning.

Shortly after, a man named Saleem arrived at the station, claiming to be an officer of a key government institution in an attempt to secure Javed’s release. However, when asked to provide his job details and service card, he failed to do so. Upon verification, police confirmed that Saleem was not a government employee.

A case was registered against both accused.

According to police officials, Aslam was posted at the Sabzazar Police Station’s Operations Wing. While performing his duty on Mall Road, he suffered a sudden heart attack, causing his condition to deteriorate.

He was immediately rushed to hospital but he died before reaching medical assistance. Police officers and personnel have expressed grief over the death of SI Aslam.

14 die in road accident in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,398 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 14 people died, whereas 1,570 were injured.

Out of these, 605 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 965 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Four die in separate incidents

Four people lost their lives in separate incidents across the City. A 55-year-old man, identified as Ashqeen, son of Ramzan, and a resident of Rawalpindi, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the limits of Data Darbar police. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death. Body of an unidentified 35-year-old man was discovered lying on the sidewalk near Scheme Mor, Sabzazar.

Meanwhile, on the Hanjarwal Motorway, a 50-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a speeding vehicle. The driver fled the scene, and police are searching for the suspect. Additionally, in Raiwind, the body of a 45-year-old man was found abandoned by the roadside. His identity remains unidentified. After completing initial legal formalities, police transferred all bodies to the morgue with the assistance of Edhi ambulance services.
