The Sindh High Court vacated an interim order with regard to 4 acres of land coming in the way of the K4 water project. Petitioners, including Maula Bux, submitted that the government has not provided alternate land or compensation as per the land acquisition law for their land coming in the way of the K4 water project.
The petitioners’ counsel submitted that the government failed to implement the land acquisition law pertaining to four acres of land of the petitioners in Taluka Shah Mureed and that government policies regarding K4 were not clear.
The counsel opposed the government counsel’s plea with regard to vacation of the stay order in the case, submitting that the excuse of a delay in the project due to the interim stay order over this land was baseless.
A provincial law officer submitted that the interim stay order was causing delay in the water supply project and requested the court to vacate it. The court observed that a project of public importance cannot be stopped for a small piece of land and dismissed the stay applications.
