The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has extended its discount scheme for all retail consumers until April 30, 2025, allowing them to clear their outstanding bills under relaxed terms.

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab approved the three-month extension of the KWSC’s special concession policy to provide better facilities to citizens. He emphasised that the primary objective of this policy was to facilitate citizens by enabling them to pay their outstanding dues in easy instalments.

Urging the residents to take full advantage of the scheme, he stated that timely payments would increase the KWSC’s revenue, ultimately leading to improved water supply and drainage services across the city. He reaffirmed that enhancing water and sanitation services remained a top priority with the Sindh government actively taking measures to support this initiative.

According to a spokesperson for the KWSC, the mayor directed the extension of the concession policy to benefit all retail consumers who had yet to settle their dues. Under this policy, the consumers would not only receive discounts on their outstanding payments but also have the option to pay in instalments.

Those who made lump-sum payments would receive a 35 per cent discount, while those paying within six months would get a 25 per cent discount. Consumers settling their dues within nine months, one year, and 15 months would receive 20 per cent, 15 per cent, and 10 per cent discounts, respectively.

The spokesperson highlighted that this policy had led to a monthly revenue increase of Rs200 million for the KWSC in the past three months. Urging the public to benefit from the scheme before the deadline, he warned that defaulters would face strict action under the Section 40 of the corporation’s new law after the specified date. Consumers can obtain their discounted bills from the relevant deputy director taxes office. They can contact the KWSC helpline at 1334 for complaints or further information.
