TIMERGARA: Chief of World Yousafzai Jirga (WYJ) Malik Jehann Alam Yousafzai on Sunday said that they would work for the unity of all Pakhtuns and would play active role for restoration of peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“When chaos and uncertainty hits a specific area the people of that area are affected irrespective of their caste or creed,” he added.
Speaking at a grand here, Malik Jehan Alam Yousafzai claimed that the Pakhtun belt was full of resources but they were compelled to go abroad to earn bread for their families.
Members of the Yousafzai clan from Mardan, Ashnaghar, Shangla, Buner, Swat, Torghar and down districts were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Malik Jehan Alam Yousafzai was accorded a rousing welcome on his arrival at his native district after being selected as chief of the World Yousafzai clan.
Hundreds of the Yousafzai clan members received Malik Jehan Alam Yousafzai at Chakdara interchange on Swat Motorway and took him to Timergara in a procession.
Malik Jehan Alam Yousafzai made it clear that his nomination was made as acting chief of the Yousafzai clan.
“Once the organisation and registration process of WYJ is completed, the members will elect its chief in a democratic way, “ he said, adding that the constitution and website of WYJ was underway and the membership drive would be started soon.
He said the Yousafzai clan was a big Pakhtun tribe and they don’t believe in racism.
“The WYJ will work for the promotion of Pashto language as when a language doesn’t persist in writing it vanishes soon,” he added.
