ISLAMABAD: People have been warned of hackers’ new campaign of cyberattacks to steal their personal information.

“The risk of cyberattacks has arisen for citizens using VPN and Artificial Intelligence”, said an advisory issued by National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board.

In the new types of cyberattacks, popular browsers are attacked to steal sensitive data. Fake techniques are used to send suspicious code.

Websites like Facebook and banking websites are being used to steal personal information, advisory informed. Sixteen applications, including ChatGPTV, VPN City, Reader Mode, Pret Talks and AI Assistant, may be affected.

Stop using these applications temporarily and go for alternative options, the advisory said.

It recommended using secure applications and websites, while restricting app’s access to mobile location and messages after installing the application.

The users should update apps on a daily basis, installing a licensed antivirus, the advisory said.
