Preying on the poor
The allure of a more prosperous life overseas has proven to be a deadly trap for many, with tragic mass drowning incidents in the Mediterranean involving desperate migrants. These deaths serve as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of illegal migration. The statistics are alarming, with thousands of Pakistanis attempting to migrate to Europe through illegal channels, resulting in significant loss of life. The government’s failure to provide jobs, education, and healthcare to its citizens has created a sense of desperation and hopelessness among many young people, who see migration as the only way to escape poverty and unemployment.
To address this issue, the government must crack down on unscrupulous travel agents and human traffickers, provide alternative solutions for those seeking to migrate abroad and address the root causes of poverty and unemployment. This requires a comprehensive and sustainable development strategy and a commitment to good governance and transparency.
