Joint sitting lasts for 18 minutes and House could pass only four out of eight bills in less than 15 minutes
ISLAMABAD: Amid sloganeering and uproar from the opposition, the joint sitting of the parliament Friday passed four bills in a matter of 15 minutes.
The bills passed by the joint session included the Trade Organizations (Amendment) Bill, 2021; The Imports and Exports (Control) (Amendment) Bill; The National Institute of Technology Bill, 2024 and The National Excellence Institute Bill, 2024.
These bills were passed by the National Assembly and Senate and returned by the president to be taken into consideration at once under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Consideration.
The joint sitting lasted for little over 18 minutes and following the national anthem, the House could pass only four out of eight bills in less than 15 minutes.
However, the joint session was not prorogued and was adjourned to meet again on February 12 to take up the remaining agenda.
