Governor, Japanese envoy discuss bilateral ties
LAHORE : Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Akamatsu Shui Chi called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and discussed strengthening of bilateral ties in the fields of agriculture, economy, and culture during a meeting at the Governor's House on Wednesday.
The governor said Pakistan and Japan have cordial relations, adding that these relations would be taken to new heights. He said due to fertile land and climate in Pakistan, the taste of fruits and vegetables here is famous all over the world.
The governor said: "We look forward to cooperation of Japan in the field of agriculture. He said Japanese companies could take advantage of economic opportunities in various sectors in Pakistan, including the automobile sector.
The governor said exchange of business and cultural delegations between Pakistan and Japan would further expand bilateral relations. He hailed support of the Japanese government for preservation of artifacts in the Taxila Museum. He assured the Japanese ambassador of the cooperation of the Governor's House regarding solution to the problems of engineers working in Japanese companies and the security of the Japanese people living in Pakistan.
The Japanese envoy said that about 80 Japanese companies were working in Pakistan. He stressed the need to increase people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Japan.
The envoy expressed the desire to promote bilateral relations between Japan and Pakistan especially in culture and trade sectors.
