PESHAWAR: Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud has directed an immediate and large-scale anti-encroachment operation on Kohat Road, Indus Highway, to address chronic traffic congestion and improve urban mobility.
The initiative, involving the district administration, PDA, traffic police, TMAs, and police, will target key hotspots and pave the way for future development projects.At a meeting chaired by Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud, seven critical points, including Chungi Chowk, Bhanamari, Ghari Qamardin, Kohat Adda, Siffin Chowk, Speen Jumaat Chowk, Badaber Bazaar and Mattani Chowk, were identified as areas plagued by severe daily traffic jams. He issued directives to remove encroachments immediately and ensure strict compliance with the operation.
“Clearing Peshawar’s roads of encroachments is the first step toward resolving the city’s traffic challenges,” said Riaz Khan Mahsud. “We are implementing short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans to ensure a sustainable solution while initiating development projects to modernize Kohat Road, Indus Highway,” he added.
The commissioner emphasised that alongside removing encroachments, other essential measures are being implemented to improve traffic flow across the city. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to creating a hassle-free urban environment and enhancing infrastructure for the benefit of residents.
