First-ever freelancing hub set up for differently abled persons in Muzaffarabad
MUZAFFARABAD: Special Communications Organization (SCO) has taken a pioneering step in empowering differently abled individuals by launching its first-ever Freelancing Hub for differently abled persons at Noble Foundation in Muzaffarabad.
This groundbreaking initiative, inaugurated by Major General Umar Ahmad Shah, HI (M), Director General SCO, marks a significant milestone in promoting inclusivity and providing equal opportunities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The Freelancing Hub is specifically designed to promote skill development and entrepreneurship among differently abled youth. It features 15 state-of-the-art computer systems with high-speed internet and 24/7 power backup, providing a professional, uninterrupted environment. The hub also offers specialized training programs to equip users with essential skills for the digital economy.
During the inauguration, DG SCO Major General Umar Ahmad Shah HI (M) emphasized SCO’s dedication to building a robust digital ecosystem in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), in line with SCO Vision 2025.
He stated, “This Freelancing Hub is not just about technology; it’s about breaking barriers and creating opportunities for differently abled community. SCO is committed to promoting inclusivity, empowering individuals, and enabling them to make valuable contributions to the economy.”
He also highlighted the organization’s ongoing support for the exceptional children at the Independent Living Center (ILC) in Gilgit-Baltistan, where SCO has fostered an inclusive environment that nurtures and empowers these remarkable individuals.
Since its soft launch, the hub has drawn enthusiastic interest, with many applicants eager to enhance their skills and join the growing freelancing market. A local freelancer expressed gratitude, saying, “This hub gives us hope and an opportunity to realize our potential.”This project reflects SCO’s vision of leveraging digital tools to create an inclusive and empowered society while driving economic development in the region.
