IDPs return to begin from 18th in Waziristan

WANA: The jirga of tribal elders and military officials on Monday announced that the return of internally displaced persons to native areas would begin from January 18.

The announcement was made by Brigadier Arif who said that the return of residents from three villages in the Makin area of South Waziristan Upper would start on the 18th of this month.

The jirga comprising prominent elders from the Mehsud and Burki tribes was held at the Kanigaram Army Brigade.Tribal elders, including Malik Saifur Rehman Mehsud, Malik Sala Khan Mehsud, Malik Saeed Anwar Mehsud, Malik Irfanuddin Burki, Maulana Ehsamuddin, Riaz Mehsud, who is the president of Makin Market, and others attended the jirga.

According to the decision, the return of IDPs of the three villages - Dasha, Abakhel, and Zarifkhel - of Upper South Waziristan would commence on January 18.A total of 211 families from these villages would be provided with free transportation to ensure their dignified return.

Also, each family would receive financial assistance of Rs30,000 and a ration package.
