PESHAWAR: The committee constituted to review the security for the judges has recommended that judges deployed in sensitive areas should be provided personal security, as well as that for homes and the routes they travel on.
Sources told Geo News that the responsibility for identifying sensitive areas for security would rest with the Counter Terrorism Department. The committee has recommended providing bulletproof vehicles for all benches of the Peshawar High Court.
It suggested that the security for districts and sessions should be classified as Category A. The committee suggested the deployment of one head constable and four constables for district and sessions judges. Two constables have been recommended for deployment to protect additional district and sessions judges.
One security man each has been recommended for the security of civil judges, senior civil judges, and judicial magistrates. The committee has suggested the deployment of one constable for security at Family Courts and for the presiding officers.
If approved by the KP cabinet, 116 personnel would be assigned to the security of district and sessions judges.
Up to 180 personnel will be assigned for additional sessions judges, and 87 personnel will be deployed for the security of senior civil judges. A total of 390 personnel will be assigned to provide security for civil judges.
