PPL starts gas production from Takri-1 well
KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has commenced gas production from the Takri-1 exploration well in Sindh, boosting domestic supplies amid an ongoing energy crisis.
The E&P, a key supplier of natural gas in Pakistan, announced the development in a stock exchange filing on Friday. The Kotri North Joint Venture, led by United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL), has started producing approximately 5.3 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas from the well.
The Takri-1 well, located in the Jamshoro district, was spudded in November 2024 and drilled to a depth of 4,156 feet. The gas is currently being processed at UEPL’s Aliabad Production Facility before being supplied to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
PPL’s profit after tax declined by nearly 24 per cent to Rs22.69 billion in the quarter ended September 30, 2024, according to the company’s financial statements.
