Democrats Panel sweeps KPC elections 2024-25
The Democrats Panel made a clean sweep of the Karachi Press Club elections 2024-25 on Saturday.
According to the results announced by the election commission, Fazil Jamili of Geo Digital was elected president with 560 votes. His rivals Ayub Jan Sarhandi obtained 273 votes, while other candidates M. Javed Qureshi and Mohammad Arif Anjum took four and three votes, respectively.
Irshad Khokhar of Daily Ummat was already elected vice president unopposed. Mohammad Sohail Afzal Khan of Daily Jang was elected secretary with 604 votes, defeating Qamar Rizvi, who bagged 237 votes.
Imran Ayub of Dawn was elected treasurer with 668 against his rival Aftab Hussain, who took 149 votes. Mohammad Munsif of Daily Jang was elected joint secretary after bagging 688 votes, while the other candidate Saeed Anwar Khan took 119 votes.
Abdul Hafeez Baloch of Samaa TV, Hammad Hussain of Daily Jasarat, Kafeel Ahmed of BOL TV, Mamona Siddiui of 365 Channel, Manzoor Sheikh of Sindh TV, Mohammad Farooq of AP and Qazi Mohammad Yasir of ARY NEWS were elected members of the governing body. The polling for the elections continued from 9am to 5pm.
