Defence analysts in TV programmes: IHC suspends Pemra’s notification linking participation to ISPR permission

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended Pemra notification for linking participation of defence analysts in TV programmes to ISPR permission. The court has adjourned the hearing till February 11. Justice Babar Sattar has issued written decision against Pemra’s notification 2019.
The decision said counsel from the side of Pemra did not appear in the court during hearing. The junior counsel requested for adjournment being the senior counsel indisposed. On the basis of arguments given during hearing of the case notification issued by Pemra has been suspended. IHC further said in its order that Pemra notification will remain suspended till the decision of this case. The petition against Pemra notification came up for hearing in IHC Thursday.
According to notification only retired officers of armed forces could participate in TV programs. Pemra had made conditional the participation of retired officers in TV programmes to ISPR permission. Justice Babar Sattar issued written order of case against Pemra notification 2019. The further hearing of the case was adjourned till February 11.
