FIA empowered to take action against social media crime
Notification says laws of National Cybercrimes and Investigation Agency have been repealed

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has issued a notification to restore the powers of the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to the notification, laws of the National Cybercrimes and Investigation Agency have been repealed and its powers have been transferred to the FIA Cyber Crime Wing. According to sources, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing has been empowered to take action against social media crime. The National Cyber Crimes and Investigation Agency was set up in 2023 to tackle crime on social media. It should be noted that the rules of National Cyber Crimes and Investigation Agency (NCCIA) were canceled by the federal cabinet about two and a half months ago.
