Main suspect in honour killing of couple arrested

LAHORE:Kot Lakhpat police have arrested Tanveer, the main suspect in the honour killing of a couple. Following an investigation, the police traced and apprehended Tanveer in the Kahna area. During interrogation, Tanveer revealed that his cousin Izhar and the victim, Benish, were in a relationship and wanted to marry against their families’ wishes, leading to tensions with Benish's family. The couple had moved to Lahore and started living in a rented flat owned by Benish’s uncle on Chandrai Road. On the day of the incident, Tanveer, along with accomplices Ziauddin, Alauddin, Riazuddin, and Kashif, carried out the murders.

10 die in road accidents in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,483 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 10 people died, whereas 1,593 were injured. Out of these, 663 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 930 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
