Toxic liquor kills 4 in Phoolnagar
PHOOLNAGAR: Four people died after consuming poisonous liquor here on Saturday.
Reportedly, some people, including Afzal, Bagh Sheikh, Rana Shera and Abdul Ghaffar, bought liquor from local dealer Anil Masih and consumed it. Later, their condition started deteriorating. Abdul Ghaffar was taken to a hospital in Dina Nath from where he was referred to the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore. He died during treatment in the Jinnah Hospital while Afzal, Bagh Sheikh and Rana Shera were shifted to the Trauma Centre in Phoolnagar where they died.
After receiving information about the incident, SP investigation Tahir reached the Dina Nath police post where he told newsmen that the police had launched a crackdown on the liquor sellers. He said that the police had arrested more than 15 liquor sellers and recovered a huge quantity of liquor from them.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of the death of four people after drinking poisonous liquor. She sought a report from the IGP.
She directed strict crackdown to stop the production of poisonous liquor. She also directed to expedite action to stop the sale and purchase of poisonous liquor.
