IT ministry, its organs spend less than 5pc of allocated funds in 5 months
Official document says Rs23,929m was allocated in current fiscal year 2024-25 PSDP budget for 21 projects
ISLAMABAD: The IT and Telecommunication Ministry and its related institutions could not spend even five percent of the development budget allocated for the current financial year in the first five months, it has been revealed.
A total of Rs23,929 million was allocated in the current fiscal year 2024-25 PSDP budget for 21 projects of the ministry and its affiliated institutions but only Rs1,138 million could be spent in the first five months, according to an official document. About Rs13,110.78 million have been allocated in the budget for four projects of the ministry, but Rs788 million were spent. Over Rs1,090.35 million were allocated for six projects of SCO, but only Rs202 million were spent. While Rs335 million were set aside for two projects of NITB, only Rs71 million were spent. Similarly, Rs8662.86 million were allocated for six projects of PSEB but only Rs27 million were spent in the first five months.
Over Rs80 million were allocated for a project of PITB and the expenditure was Rs16 million, while Rs500 million were allocated for a project of NTISB and the expenditure was only Rs25 million.
Funds of Rs150 million were allocated for a project of Virtual University of Pakistan but only Rs6 million were spent.
