LAHORE:A bike theft victim has accused the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) Manawan of negligence and lack of accountability after relevant officers allegedly mishandled his case and ignored gathering evidence and questioning suspects.
Muhammad Mansha of Sajid Garden near Lahore Medical Scheme, Manawan, parked his motorcycle outside his house on November 25, 2024. When he came back he found it missing. Manawan police registered a case and transferred it to the AVLS Manawan for further investigation.
After five days, an ASI of the AVLS visited the crime scene. Mansha told him that two labourers were involved in the theft of his motorcycle, but the ASI ignored his plea and did not question the labourers and showed reluctance in collecting CCTV footage from nearby houses. Mansha faced further frustration in his bid to get help from the relevant DSP. When he found zero progress in the investigation of his case, Mansha appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, the Lahore CCPO and the DIG concerned and demanded their immediate intervention and impartial investigation of the case. When the relevant SP of the AVLS was contacted on his cell phone, he ignored the call. In response to a landline phone call, his operator stated that the SP was in meeting and after the meeting the call would be responded.
