Wapda cyclist wins ‘tour de Mohmand’
GHALLANAI: As many as 56 cyclists from all over Pakistan participated in the first ‘tour de Mohmand’ cycle race organised by Pakistan Cycle Federation (PCF) at the Pak-Afghan border area in Mohmand Agency on Saturday.
Cyclist Muhammad Sabir of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) won the 66-kilometer two-way loop race while Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited’s Muhammad Awais Khan stood second. Sabir completed his rounds in one hour and 13 minutes.
Balochistan’s cyclist Zameer Ahmad remained third in the race.
The 66-km ‘tour de Mohmand’ cycle race started from the sports ground in Atta Bazaar of the Baizai sub-division to the Pak-Afghan border and ended back at the starting point. Tribespeople demanded the government to organise such events frequently in the future.
