ECP wants video-link presence of Imran in contempt case
Four-member bench headed by Nisar Ahmad Durrani conducts hearing
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday ordered for ensuring PTI founder Imran Khan’s presence through video-link in a contempt of the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) case.
A four-member bench, headed by Member Sindh Nisar Ahmad Durrani, heard the case.
The Sindh member said the authorities had given a written assurance that arrangements would be made for the PTI founder’s presence through video-link next time.
Member Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pointed out that the PTI founder had been granted bail the other day, but his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry told the court that he had been re-arrested in another case. While giving arguments, the lawyer said that the presence of accused was necessary to record evidence. The ECP instructed that the presence of PTI founder should be ensured through video-link at the next hearing. The hearing will now be resumed on December 17.
