375 meters involved in electricity theft detected
Islamabad:Chief Executive Officer the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Muhammad Naeem Jan said that extensive actions have been ongoing since September 2023 to eradicate the scourge of electricity theft from the Iesco region, says a press release.
He shared details of the actions taken against electricity thieves in October 2024 that Iesco detection teams checked 105,884 of different tariffs, 375 meters were found to be involved in various forms of electricity theft. The electricity thieves were fined over Rs33.74 million for direct usage of electricity and tampering with meters, and 43 individuals were apprehended by the police.
Muhammad Naeem Jan stated that they are committed to eliminating electricity thieves from the Iesco region, as they are obstacles to Pakistan’s progress and a stable economy. He affirmed that they are strictly following a zero-tolerance policy in this regard.
