Several booked for cricket match clash in Bajaur
KHAR: The police on Saturday registered the first information report (FIA) in the aftermath of a clash during a cricket match in Bajaur which left one person dead and several others injured.
District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq said that the clash erupted during the final match of the Bajaur Cricket League between two local teams.
The FIR was registered against Mian Habib Gul, Fazal Amin Salarzai, Suleiman, Gul Munir Azad, Mohib Danish, Ishaq Zia, Feroz Shah and other unidentified persons.
The case, filed by ASI Lal Rehman, was registered under Sections 322, 324, 353, 148, 149, and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Six people were arrested, and further arrests are expected as police were examining the footage to identify more suspects.
The incident took place on Friday during the league’s final, when a player from one Team 804 was declared out by the third umpire.
This decision led to a scuffle between supporters of the two teams, who threw chairs and sticks at each other, damaging stadium property.
The clash resulted in the death of one person and injuries to several others, including two DSPs, Abdul Aziz and Suhail Salar, and a police constable.
The Team 804 is owned by former PTI MNA Gul Zafar Khan, while the Salarzai Team is owned by MNA Mubarak Zeb Khan.
