ISLAMABAD: The Australian high commissioner to Pakistan, Neil Hawkins, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday and shared a photo on his social media account in which he can be seen wearing the traditional dress of Pakistan -- shalwar kameez and a waistcoat, paired with none other than a pair of Peshawari chappals (slippers/sandals).
The high commissioner said that his preparation for Friday prayers was complete, adding that he felt “at home in this dress while living in Pakistan”. Hawkins has previously served as ambassador to many countries, including Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He is fluent in Arabic and holds a Bachelors (Hons) degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Murdoch University.
