DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Huge fire erupted in the pine nut (Chilghoza) forest in Kondai Qais Ghar area in the Suleiman mountain range on Wednesday

Upon receiving information, the Rescue 1122 promptly dispatched fire tenders and team to the scene to extinguish the inferno.

According to a report issued by Rescue 1122 spokesperson Aizaz Mahmood, a 16-member firefighting team was formed and sent to respond to the Suleiman mountain range fire emergency under the supervision of Emergency Officer Naumanullah Marwat.

The firefighting team was constituted following the directives of District Emergency Officer Engr Fasihullah, and it included firefighters from all Rescue 1122 stations in the district, including Station 55 Darazinda.

This rescue team was equipped with all the necessary equipment for firefighting, including fire extinguishers, personal protective gears and other essential items for working in mountainous areas.

It may be mentioned that the Rescue 1122 Dera Ismail Khan team had also extinguished a fire in theSuleiman mountain range in 2022, which spread to Balochistan. That firefighting continued for several days.

During that operation, teams from Rescue 1122 Tank, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Balochistan had collaborated.

In such emergencies, firefighting is conducted using smothering and starvation techniques, which cut off the oxygen and fuel supply to the fire. This method is implemented in locations where it is impossible for fire trucks or tenders to reach due to the high mountainous terrain.
