Finance minister attends IMF, WB annual meetings starting today
Finance minister will meet with private and public finance leaders during his trip
WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will be in the US for almost a week to attend the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) annual meetings.
The IMF and World Bank meetings will kick off today (Monday) throughout the week.
The finance minister will meet with private and public finance leaders during his trip. He’s also scheduled to address a local think tank on Wednesday.
According to the embassy officials, the delegation will hold talks with senior US officials as well as meetings with their Chinese, Saudi, Türkiye counterparts. The Secretary Finance, Secretary Economic Affairs and Governor State Bank are also part of the delegation. The IMF late last month approved a 3-year long $7 billion loan to help stabilize the economy as Pakistan promised to implement its reform agenda.
