PESHAWAR: The provincial government is set to launch eight flagship projects in the province to build an inclusive, empowered and thriving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by ensuring accessibility, fostering socio-economic development, providing social security and unlocking new trade opportunities for prosperity.
According to the handout, these projects included the provision of Life Insurance for All, the establishment of a Provincial Islamic Takaful Insurance Company, launching of Solarization Programme, Homestay Tourism in KP, Construction of Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, Construction of 120 Km long Transmission Line, Trade Corridors Hub and establishment of Debt Management Fund. All these projects will be completed by the end of the year 2027.
The decision was made at a high -level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.Adviser to Chief Minister on Finance Muzamil Aslam and administrative secretaries of the departments concerned attended the meeting.
Briefing about the proposed flagship projects, it was informed the KP government was going to unfold the facility of providing life insurance to everyone in the province, through which the government will provide compensation ranging from 0.5 million to 1 million for the death of the head of the family. The Provincial Islamic Takaful Insurance Company will meet the growing demand for Islamic insurance within the province.
The Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway would be constructed as an international trade corridor that would traverse through 12 districts of the province spanning over 365 Km and connect the province with Balochistan and Punjab.
The meeting okayed the project of a 120 Km long 220 KV Power Transmission Line to be constructed from Swat to Chakdara. It was expected to generate Rs. 54 billion annually for the provincial kitty.
It was also decided to establish the Trade Corridors Hub at Torkham aimed at facilitating and streamlining the trade activities with Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics. A dedicated Cargo Railway Track from Peshawar to Torkham would be constructed for this purpose. Under the solarization scheme, in the first phase, 65,000 units of solar-powered energy solutions would be provided to the low-income households of the province.In the second phase, 65,000 units will be provided on loan in easy repayment installments.
