ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday assumed the duties of Acting President, as President Asif Ali Zardari left for Turkmenistan on a two-day visit. According to the Senate Secretariat, a formal notification has also been issued in this regard.
Yousaf Raza Gilani will perform duties as Acting President under Article (2) 49 of the Constitution until the President returns.
