PCB strongly rejects claims about CT final venue shift
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a strong denial in response to claims made by a British newspaper regarding the potential relocation of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.
The PCB’s statement reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to hosting all matches of the tournament, including the final, within its borders. A British publication had reported that if India were to reach the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, the match would be played outside of Pakistan. The PCB has categorically denied this claim, stating that there are no proposals under consideration to hold the final or any other matches of the tournament outside Pakistan.
In its official statement, the PCB emphasized, “Pakistan has a clear stand on holding all the Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan, including the final. The Pakistan Cricket Board wants to send a clear message that all matches of the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan.”
The PCB also highlighted ongoing preparations for the prestigious tournament: The board is focusing all its attention on these preparations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not made any official decision regarding the Indian team’s participation in the tournament in Pakistan.
