LAHORE: Police have registered a case against a man for raping a female polio worker on the promise of marrying her in the Nawankot area. Police registered the case after the victim appeared in open court of DIG Operations, Lahore. Accused repeatedly raped the victim. When the victim insisted on marriage, he refused. To date, the Gender Crime Cell has not arrested the accused.
Four found dead at different places
Four people were found dead at different locations in the city on Thursday. The dead body of a 40-year-old man was found near Shahzad Peer Darbar, in Nawankot police area.
The deceased was identified as M Bilal. A 30-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Baghbanpura police. The deceased was identified as Sabir Bilal. A 30-year-old man was found dead on the roadside in the limits of Ghalib Market police and the body of a 30-year-old man was recovered from Manga Mandi police area. Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies to the mortuary.
14 unclaimed bodies buried
The Edhi Foundation Lahore has buried 14 unclaimed bodies recovered from various areas of the city on Thursday. Two bodies were found in Gawalmandi, three in Mozang, three in Bhati Gate, and one each from the areas of Sabzazar, Kot Lakhpat, Factory Area, Baghbanpura, and Ghalib Market. Edhi volunteers carried out the burials in different graveyards across the city.
Road accidents
The Emergency Services Department responded to 1,302 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these road accidents, nine people died, whereas 1,366 were injured. Out of these, 576 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 790 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
