Israr Kakar appointed Ambassador-at-Large for youth empowerment
LONDON: In a significant move, the Oxford Union President Israr Khan Kakar has been appointed as Pakistan’s Ambassador-at-Large for Youth Empowerment, according to a notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in appointing Kakar, a notable Oxford University student from Balochistan who recently made history by becoming the first person from Balochistan and the third Pakistani ever to win the prestigious Oxford Union Presidency.
An ambassador-at-large is a diplomat of the highest rank who represents a country and its people internationally across various jurisdictions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Kakar to the Prime Minister’s House, praising him for bringing honour to Pakistan on the international stage. “Talented youth like Israr Kakar are the guarantors of Pakistan’s sustainable and bright future,” the prime minister stated, commending Kakar’s success.
Speaking to Geo News, Israr had said: “I am incredibly grateful to the members of the Oxford Union for placing their trust in me by electing me as President and to my team in believing in me. This election was crucial, especially during such challenging times.
“There is a significant amount of work ahead, and I am committed to leading the Union on a more inclusive path and restoring its relevance.”
