Foreign woman alleges rape in Capital
Victim informs police that she had been taken to a house five days earlier and subjected to continuous sexual assault
ISLAMABAD: A foreign woman has allegedly been raped in the Aabpara Police Station precincts here.
The police confirmed reporting of the incident, but did not provide details, saying that facts of the case will become clear after the medical examination report was received. “It would be premature to draw any conclusions about the truth of the offence at this stage,” said a police source.
The woman, reportedly a 28-year-old national of a European country, was found with her hands and feet tied on Sadar Road in Sector G-6. According to initial information, the victim informed the police that she had been taken to a house five days earlier and subjected to continuous sexual assault. “I had been subjected to sexual assault for five days,” she alleged.
The police have arrested a suspect, a resident of Sector G-6, who denied the allegations, saying the woman was mentally ill. The police also noted that the victim was found without any identification or travel documents. The police, quoting the accused, said that the woman was living with the accused for the last six months.
The victim was taken to Polyclinic for a medical examination and an investigation into the case is under way.
The reporter telephoned the IGP Islamabad, DIG (Operations) and SP (City Zone) but no response was received.
