NHA to start M-Tag facility at M-11 from 16th
IslamabaD: To facilitate commuters and promote electronic toll collection facility, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has decided to formally start the M-tag system on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11) from August 16, says a press release.
The Authority has also offered a facility to the commuters on all motorways and national highways to avail M-Tag without Rs200 installation charges till August 15. After this date they have to pay the charges in addition to the cost of the M-Tag.
According to the NHA spokesman Sohail Aftab, vehicles equipped with M-Tags only will be permitted to operate on motorways in the near future. Following this date, no vehicle will be allowed to ply without M-Tag on M-11, he said.
“In the first phase M-tag is being made mandatory on M-11. Later, the system will be implemented in other motorways and highways of the country,” he added. This system not only saves time but also reduces cost for travellers also.
Additionally, the system ensures that public funds are handled through transparent digital transactions. To facilitate ease of access, the NHA has established multiple options for recharging M-Tags, including customer care services, drive-through booths, and service areas, where payments can be made via credit/debit cards, EasyPaisa, and JazzCash, a press release issued by the NHA said.
