KARACHI: Pakistan’s former athlete and most experienced coach Muhammad Talib is optimistic that Arshad Nadeem will give the best performance of his career in the final round of the javelin throw competition of Paris Olympics on Thursday (today).
While talking to The News on Wednesday, Talib said that it is a great achievement to reach the finals of Paris Olympics. “It is not ordinary to reach the final round of Olympics. It means you are among the world’s leading athletes,” he added.
He said that on the day of event in javelin throw any good athlete can win if air flow help his throw. In Pakistan, stardom belongs to players of cricket, squash, tennis, hockey, snooker or boxing but Arshad has changed the scenario of Pakistani sports in the last couple of years.
Talib said that Arshad’s effort, struggle and hard work proved that if an athlete has talent and passion (s)he can reach Olympics and World Athletics Championship level competitions. If proper coaching facilities and participation at international competitions are provided Pakistani athletes will not remain behind, he added.
