Two men dead in separate shootings
Two people were killed and a police officer was injured in separate incidents in the city on Wednesday. Waseem, 30, was shot dead while four others were injured in the Baghdadi police remit. The incident took place on Wednesday evening near Ammi Ayesha Masjid. Police mobiles along with rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Karachi where Waseem succumbed to his injuries, while Kamran, Naeem, Elahi Bux and Rasheed were under treatment.
SSP Arif Aziz, chief of the District City Police, said investigations showed Waseem and Naeem had a dispute running over a land running in the area for a long time. On Wednesday evening, Waseem was present outside his house when Naeem along with an absconding suspect Bilal came equipped with lethal arms and started altercating.
During the exchange of hot words, both parties took out their weapons and opened fire. In the shooting, Waseem died while Naeem and others were injured. Bilal managed to escape from the spot.
SSP Aziz said the police were hunting the absconding suspects and soon he would be behind bars; however, he said, police had arrested the Naeem. In a separate incident, Zeeshan, 35, son of Allah Wasaya, was shot dead while Umair was injured in the Sachal police limits. The incident took place on Wednesday evening at a petrol pump in Ghazi Goth.
SHO Aurangzeb Khattak of the Sachal police station said they, responding to information, rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital where Zeeshan was pronounced dead. Umair was working at the petrol pump and fuelling up a motorcycle driven by two suspects when during the process they entered into an argument and motorcycle riders opened fire. As a result, Zeeshan, a motorcycle rider who was waiting behind for his turn, died.
SHO Khattak said the deceased suffered bullet wounds to his torso, which became the cause of his death. The man worked in a private firm and was a resident of Ghazi Goth. The SHO said they had developed CCTV footage from the spot and were searching for the suspect.
