Two men dead in separate shootings
Two people were killed and a police officer was injured in separate incidents in the city on Wednesday. Waseem, 30, was shot dead while four others were injured in the Baghdadi police remit. The incident took place on Wednesday evening near Ammi Ayesha Masjid. Police mobiles along with rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Karachi where Waseem succumbed to his injuries, while Kamran, Naeem, Elahi Bux and Rasheed were under treatment.
SSP Arif Aziz, chief of the District City Police, said investigations showed Waseem and Naeem had a dispute running over a land running in the area for a long time. On Wednesday evening, Waseem was present outside his house when Naeem along with an absconding suspect Bilal came equipped with lethal arms and started altercating.
During the exchange of hot words, both parties took out their weapons and opened fire. In the shooting, Waseem died while Naeem and others were injured. Bilal managed to escape from the spot.
SSP Aziz said the police were hunting the absconding suspects and soon he would be behind bars; however, he said, police had arrested the Naeem. As a result, Zeeshan, a motorcycle rider who was waiting behind for his turn, died.
