PESHAWAR: A meeting at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) here on Wednesday discussed the provision of cheap electricity from newly constructed hydro powerhouses to the economic zones.
The meeting was chaired by the Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Industries and Commerce Abdul Karim.Key attendees included Javed Khattak, CEO of KPEZDMC, Mohammad Ayub, CEO of KP Transmission Lines and Grid Company, and representatives from SIDB, PEDO, KP-BOIT, and Swati Corporation.
During the meeting, the importance of establishing a KP regulatory authority was emphasised to eliminate obstacles in providing low-cost electricity to the economic zones.Discussions covered various projects, including the supply of power from Shishi Powerhouse to the Chitral Economic Zone through a 12km transmission line and the construction of an independent 1km transmission line from Pehur Powerhouse to the Gadoon Economic Zone. These projects are set to begin soon.
