Officers appointed on political grounds to be changed, says minister
LAHORE:The Punjab government decided to change exam boards controllers and other officers holding important positions on political grounds.
This decision was made in a meeting of all Punjab exam boards held under the chairmanship of Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Chairman Task Force for Examinations Muzammil Mehmood on Tuesday. The meeting was convened to review the three-year performance of the boards.
Rana Sikandar said that major changes and reforms would be brought in the exam boards of the province. He directed to prepare a formal criteria for the officers who want to get appointed to important positions of the board. He said that the chairman and controller boards appointed on political basis by the previous govts would be changed while future appointments would be made purely on merit and through regular tests. The exam boards briefed the meeting about their challenges and problems. The installation of cameras in the examination centres and the issues related to the security and monitoring of the centres was also discussed in the meeting. The arrangements for the second annual examinations were also reviewed in the meeting. Rana Sikandar and Muzammil Mehmood instructed the geo-mapping of the examination centres and asked the boards for an action plan to maintain transparency in the exams.
