Heart-Wrenching: Poetry on what true loss feels like
‘Roshni Kub Ayay Gee’, a poetry collection from Maleeha Najafi is a book of short-form poetry. The poems range from half a page to a half in length. The word choice is simple but rolled off the tongue; creating is a great choice for new poetry fans and seasoned readers. It is a beautiful and heart-wrenching poetry book. Anyone can enjoy it.
I often wished for a poem to dig deeper and I have felt the poet has extended a few verses to achieve this impression. It is important to remember that light cannot exist without darkness. This is indeed a good poetry collection, and there is pain and certain hopelessness here, but inside it all, there is that glimmer of light, that something will lead us out of the darkness.
Barring a deep part of her soul, I could feel Maleeha’s emotions seeping through each one of these poems. Even though it is a book of sad poetry, I found hope interwoven throughout them, especially the poems toward the end, leaving the reader with an air of optimism even among the sadness of the earlier pieces.
The subject matter is like a cry into the darkness, a voice that searches for light. I do not pick up poetry often, and when I do, I too often get bored or do not enjoy the results. I connect to the poet in many of the poems. Yes, it is dark and rightfully comes with a trigger warning for the theme, but it also has a reminder that there is light. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The poet has battled depression for years and survived. However, there is more than pain in the verses. There is poetry where you will see the light, the hope, and romantic love. This poetry is relatable and has everything I expected from the poet. When I was reading, it felt like I was the person in the poems.
The uneven tones of these poems are exactly what I expected from an honest poet. They can take you on a journey of pain and disappointments in life. The pleasant surprises are the sweet simplicity and loveliness of some poems, which pulled at my heartstrings. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more poetry from the poet.
This an excellent collection of poems. Not all poems are all dark. They are all beautiful and powerful. Some emerged in a dark place and others in a lighter place, hence the perfectly named title - ‘Roshni Kub Ayay Gee’.
This collection will bring you into the mind frame of a person flirting with hope, all the way to find light. It is poetry on what true loss feels like. This book brings to life true topics that go on in people’s lives.
