Youm-e-Ashura observed in KP
PESHAWAR: The Youm-e-Ashura was observed across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa peacefully amid tight security. No untoward incident was reported from any district during the Ashura for which extraordinary security arrangements were made. Eight districts of the province had been declared most sensitive and six were declared sensitive ahead of Ashura.
Over 850 Muharram processions were taken out in the province and over 40,000 personnel were deployed for their security. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur appreciated the police, administration and other forces and departments for making extraordinary security arrangements for Ashura.
Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan and Capital City Police Officer Qasim Ali also appreciated all the senior, junior officials, especially constables, and personnel of other departments and forces for ensuring foolproof arrangements during the first 10 days of Muharram.
The cellular phone signals remained suspended in many towns of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for security reasons. Officials said all the routes of the processions were swept by the bomb disposal experts and sniffer dogs.
In Dera Ismail Khan, the mourning processions were taken out from various parts of the city and concluded peacefully amid strict security arrangements in place by the police and district administration.
The officials of district administration visited different routes of mourning processions and reviewed security arrangements.The biggest mourning procession was taken out from Thala Imambargah Bammu Shah while around 15 other processions appeared from different Imambargahs joined it.
Similarly, another main procession of the 10th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah Chah Syed Munawar and concluded at Kotli Imam Hussain after passing through its traditional routes. It was joined by various small mourning processions on different points of its route.
Also, the third main procession of the city was taken out from Imambargahs Latu-Faqir and Haider Shah Sherazi.All the processions reached Kotli Imam Hussain where the mourners performed Zuhr prayer.The processions also passed off peacefully in Parachinar, Hangu, Kohat and other districts.
