ATC allows Imran’s physical remand in 12 May 9 cases
Imran Khan was presented in court through video link
LAHORE/RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Terrorism Court approved 10-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan in the May 9 cases.
He was presented in the court through video link. Judge Khalid Arshad heard the case. The investigating officers requested the physical remand of the PTI founder. The PTI founder, while talking to the judge through video link, said that he had not called for violent protest. “No one conducted an independent inquiry into the May 9 incidents. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court that there should be an independent inquiry into the May 9 incidents,” he added.
He said he had been attacked at Gujranwala and he wanted to lodge an FIR but it was rejected. “CCTV footages also disappeared from the Islamabad High Court,” he added. The court reserved its decision on physical remand after the arguments of the lawyers and the prosecution. Later, the judge granted 10-day physical remand of the PTI founder in 12 cases.
He was remanded in five cases of Sarwar Road police station, three cases of Gulberg police station and one case each of Race Course, Shadman, Mughalpura and Model Town police stations.
Meanwhile, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team interrogated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail in connection with the Toshakhana reference.
According to jail sources, on Monday, a NAB investigation team led by Assistant Director Mustansir Imam Shah arrived at Adiala Jail, where they questioned the PTI founder and his wife, former First Lady Bushra Bibi, for nearly three hours.
Two days before this, the NAB team had arrested Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Adiala Jail under a new Toshakhana reference. On Sunday, the NAB team secured an 8-day physical remand of both individuals.
