Imran Khan raised over £660,000 over weekend for Namal
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan raised 660,000 pounds for Namal University in two fund raising dinners in London and Manchester over weekend and went straight back to Pakistan for the National Assembly session.
Imran told the audience in Manchester on Sunday night that he wanted to deliver his most important speech in National Assembly in the presence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to Sahibzada Jahangir, senior adviser to Imran Khan in UK, in London fund raising dinner at Nawab restaurant on Friday, £110,000 were raised but, he says that the Manchester people were more generous where £550,000 were raised. Jahangir told The News that he arranged London dinner in Nawab restaurant where all expenses were paid by the restaurant’s management while the Manchester dinner was organised by senior PTI leader Anil Mussrat, who runs property business locally and has several properties in London.
Imran Khan told over one thousand audience in Manchester that Namal University has to pay around £400,000 to Bradford University for its affiliation or franchised fee and other charges per year, for that he has to come always to UK to meet these expenses. He asked the British Pakistanis to support him generously as he wants to provide Pakistani people a high standard education which is available here in UK to everyone including British Pakistanis.
Imran said that through education terrorism can be eliminated and future generations could be saved.
“For that Pakistan will have to allocate more money in education sector as we have already done in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said. Imran said that British Pakistanis are backbone of Pakistan’s economy and they should be given proper respect by Pakistani governments and people of the country.
Sahibzada Jahangir said that Imran Khan’s fundraising trip was very successful. He said that Imran Khan was working hard to change the fate of Pakistan.
