JI leader seeks judicial probe into journalist’s murder
LANDIKOTAL: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader and former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said on Sunday that it was the state’s responsibility to protect citizens, particularly journalists, and demanded a judicial inquiry into the murder of senior journalist Khalil Jibran.
Speaking to journalists in Landikotal, the former senator said that it was the failure of law-enforcement agencies that they could not arrest the killers of Khalil Jibran, a journalist killed on June 18. He said that the Article-9 of the Constitution of Pakistan guaranteed the protection of every citizen’s life and property.
Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said journalists in Pakistan, particularly in merged districts, were in danger. He said that their protest would continue till the arrest of the Khalil Jibran’s killers.He assured the sit-in organisers and journalists that his party would continue supporting them and would raise voice for the protection of journalists in Landikotal. He added that other journalists in Landikotal were also threatened by terrorists.
The JI leader urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto of Khalil Jibran’s brutal murder and bring the culprits to justice. He also demanded a judicial Inquiry into the journalist’s murder.
