Police reforms implemented, claims IGP
LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that police working has been shifted from traditional to modern policing model with the effective use of modern technology, New Safe Cities projects are being rapidly completed in several districts which will further improve crime control, traffic management and monitoring of sensitive areas, surveillance and community policing initiatives. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar shared that modern reforms have been implemented.
IG Punjab expressed these views during his conversation with officers undergoing the 40th Mid-Career Management Course on their visit of Central Police Office. The delegation from the National Institute of Management Quetta included officers from the Pakistan Administrative Service, Inland Revenue Services, Police Service of Pakistan, Railways, and provincial services of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, among other institutions. IGP briefed the officers on recent modern reforms in the Punjab Police and answered various questions posed by the officers.
Rs1.8m released for medical treatment of cops’ families
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has released an additional Rs1.8 million for medical treatment of personnel stationed in various districts, including Lahore. According to the details, Muhammad Hashim, a ghazi official from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been given Rs0.5 million for treatment of paralysis.
Shahid Al-Sadaf, driver constable from Hafizabad, has been given Rs0.5 million for kidney treatment. Constable Muhammad Zaheer Akhtar of Lahore Police has been granted Rs0.3 million for heart disease treatment. Constable Muhammad Shafiq from Kasur has received Rs0.25 for major surgery. Constable Zahid Mahmood from Rawalpindi has been given Rs0.25 for the treatment of his wife's brain tumour. The IGP released these funds under the Welfare Medical Financial Assistance category.
Scholars team visits CPO
A delegation of scholars led by Chairman Islamic Ideological Council Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi visited the Central Police Office and met with Additional IG Operations Punjab, Shehzada Sultan.
The delegation included Mufti Intikhab Ahmad, Mufti Muhammad Imran, Maulana Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, Maulana Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, and Maulana Ihsan-ul-Haq Siddiqui. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, including security of mosques and madrasas, and Muharram security arrangements were discussed.
Additional IG Operations Punjab, Shehzada Sultan, said that Punjab Police is ensuring the security of mosques, imambargahs, and madrassas according to SOPs. He assured that strict security arrangements would also be made on Eidul Azha.
Delegation visits PSCA
A delegation from the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives visited the Punjab Safe Cities Authority here on Friday. According to the details, Operations Commander Shafiq Ahmed briefed the delegation on Safe City's workings.
The delegation was informed about the Virtual Women Police Station, the 'Women Safety App,' and the 'Crime Stopper Service.' The delegation was also briefed on the 'CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi' service available at more than 100 locations. The delegation was told that new features have been introduced in the Women Safety App for women.
All issues faced by women, including harassment, are being resolved on a priority basis. Women can resolve their issues with complete confidentiality and trust without revealing their names and addresses.
