KP governor says he enjoys statements by CM
Governor said the law and order situation was worsening in the province with each passing day
PESHAWAR: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said on Tuesday he enjoyed the statements made by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur from time to time.
Interacting with journalists during a visit to the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in Faqirabad area in the provincial capital, the governor said the chief minister could make political statements: “I can well understand his pain,” said Kundi sarcastically.
The governor said the law and order situation was worsening in the province with each passing day. “But no meeting has been held in our province so far on the law and order issue,” he pointed out.
Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was slipping out of the control of the chief minister. “The situation in Dera Ismail Khan is precarious,” he added.
He said PTI was no longer a political party. “Talks with PTI will be a waste of time. The PTI will never get an NRO,” he maintained.
The governor expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work on Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium and said the work was started in 2017 but was yet to be completed.
“The chief minister is seen presiding over official meetings in a tracksuit but the situation of sports in the province is that the work in the lone international stadium is yet to be completed even though work was started seven years ago,” said the governor.
Kundi said the national cricket team had several players from KP but there was no cricket academy in the province.
He asked Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to play his role in the promotion of sports in KP.
The governor said that the ban on student unions had been lifted in Sindh, adding that KP should follow suit.
He also visited the shrine of Pashto mystic poet Rahman Baba on the outskirts of the provincial capital to pay his tributes.
The governor directed the officials to improve the library as well as the security of the shrine.
